Our belief is that real underlying causes do exist for why an individual may suffer from addiction, depression, anxiety, lack of ambition, or be incapable of handling emotional pain.
Though prescription drugs do have a role in treatment, they often do not address the underlying problems and they carry side-effects, making them less than ideal. We believe that many mood disorders are the result of inadequate nutrition, or the inability to metabolize proper nutrition because of a toxicity overload, mutated genes, or damaged enzymes. A balanced individual should be capable of handling even grave tragedies without those situations turning into chronic mood disorders.
We not only address this balance with customized top-shelf programs for nutrition and detoxification but also with medication tapering, counseling, exercise and yoga, supplementation, organic diets, acupuncture, colonics, and a whole host of what is termed environmental medicine. Recreational drug use and “self-medicating” may be due to underlying metabolic problems such as an addictive biochemistry as well as behavioral ones.
The resident starts out with seeing our medical professional. Lab tests are then performed to identify things like liver, thyroid and kidney function, metabolic testing, differential CBC, and toxicity from heavy metals. Testing for toxicity is done during the treatment and a customized process of detoxification is designed to meet the person’s biochemical individuality. The cravings for drugs or alcohol can be addressed by neurotransmitter support so that the emotions can self-regulate. Biochemical cravings are often the driving factor in addictions, and if so, only direct physiological treatment will address it. Read more about our lab testing.
Dual Diagnosis Addiction Treatment
Understanding the medical and biochemical causes of mental health symptoms and addiction, we then treat these underlying problems with scientifically proven methods of integrated treatment. Our treatments are strategically aligned to correct both addiction and mental health issues.
On a biochemical level, there is a substantial overlap. Lack of brain balancing nutrients and toxic drugs and other poisons we may have accumulated over a lifetime can create drug and alcohol cravings as well as interrupt the balance of brain chemicals that are normally associated with a healthy mental state. The brain is a chemical organ and requires a rather pristine molecular environment so as to regulate our moods and thought processes. Read more about dual diagnosis addiction treatment.

A gentle schedule for medication tapering is written which is, on average, carried out over an eight week period. This will allow time for the neurology to properly adjust and greatly lessens withdrawal symptoms.
During chelative and other neurotoxin removal treatments, an individual on anti-anxiety medications and antipsychotics will typically start to sleep more and may even become drowsy, allowing for a substantially less challenging withdrawal. We often find that it is not until a person has reduced their neurotoxicity and supplemented their neurochemistry that they can sustainably be off of psychiatric medication. Read more about medication tapering.
Environmental medicine is founded on the idea that what we eat and what we are exposed to in the environment has a potent effect upon health. Environmental medicine examines the effect of air pollutants, heavy metals, toxins, pesticides, and other environmental factors.
This approach to medicine explores the pertinent interactions between the environment and health, and the function of the environment in causing or contributing to mental health, disease and even addiction issues. Read more about environmental medicine.
Neurotoxin Removal Program
In toxic environments, no amount of nutritional correction will be effective while toxins continue to undermine healthy cellular metabolism, biochemistry, and neurochemistry. These toxic states leave individuals in weakened conditions and can lead to anxiety, depression or drug cravings, persisting infectious conditions, and have resulted in psychosis. Read more about neurotoxin removal and neurotransmitter rehabilitation.
Customized Detoxification Therapy with Chelation
Using techniques for neurotoxin removal such as chelation and nebulized Glutathione, an individual can effectively and safely remove toxins from the body system, while also removing harmful toxins that were left behind from prescription medications and alcohol or drug abuse. In so doing, cravings become eliminated. Read more about chelation.
The Benefits Of A Highly Trained Residential Team
Our programs include medical oversight by our medical staff. We assess treatment needs, run lab tests including toxicity testing, and handle all medication concerns. The alternative mental health program is designed to the individual’s specific biochemical needs and by the results of the toxicity tests and other lab work.
A large part of the program is directed in this way. Once the neurochemistry is stabilized and the neurotoxins removed, the biochemical drug cravings are lessened and the moods and symptoms that created the need for medication are brought into balance.
To support this process we have counseling and peer support, whole food and organic meals, residential housing in a luxury home, expert medication withdrawal protocols, addiction treatment, sauna therapy, acupuncture, massage, ionic foot baths, life skills, 24 hour onsite staff, educational courses, exercise, weekend outings, cultural activities, Kangen purified water and personalized care. We also provide aftercare programs for our graduates. Read more about our residential treatment program.
Mental health is a well fed and chemical free brain.
Linus Pauling, winner of two Nobel Prizes, coined the phrase “orthomolecular” in 1960 to articulate an idea of using the right molecules at the right time and in the correct amounts. His contemporary, Abram Hoffer supported that optimal molecular concentrations from substances naturally occurring in the body were critical in maintaining optimum levels of mental health.
Simply put, our determination ideology is that healthy food equals a healthy mind. In Western traditional culture, the food industries have persuaded us to consume food that has been altered to a nutritionally dead and excessively refined state from its original and raw state, so even if we eat until we are full, we are left malnourished. Manufacturers of processed food artificially color, sweeten and modify nutritionally dead food chemically, otherwise it would taste awful and unpalatable, to fool us into ingesting it.
However, because of the human brain using more nutrients and blood oxygen than any of the body’s other organs, our brains, and our whole nervous systems, start to feel affected by biochemical deficiency of nutrients long before any noticeable physical effects emerge.
“As long as food processing continues to strip out essential nutrients, there will be no letup of growing chronic mental health issues.”– Abram Hoffer
To start alleviating this ever-present problem, our program provides participants with diets full of whole and naturally organic foods, while eliminating sugar, caffeine, white flour, dairy, and white rice from individual diets. Modern processing of food strips almost all nutrients from the food, and individuals who consume these foods regularly will be deficient in vitamins and nutrients.
Psychosis is one common resulting symptom in those who lack basic nutrition. We mostly use prescription vitamins, generally pharmaceutical grade, combined with a whole food, organic diet. We have found this is the most corrective and rapid measure in alternative mental health treatment of psychosis, and disorders related to addiction. Could your drug or alcohol use be the result of neurotransmitter imbalances?
Addictive Biochemistry Correction & Neurochemical Support
There are usually physiological reasons, even medical reasons, why a person may be drawn to certain addictions. The alcoholic may be hypoglycemic for which the low blood sugar creates cravings that the alcohol (liquid sugar) satisfies.
People with slow metabolism, sluggish thyroid or eating habits that include caffeine and stimulating foods may be drawn to stimulants. Folks with anxiety may be drawn to alcohol or benzodiazepines, having anxiety with underpinnings of neurotoxic burden that overstimulates the nervous system. This is how a pesticide kills a pest. The pesticide chemicals overstimulate the nervous system and chemicals can do the same thing to us.
Before we can correct addictive biochemistry, we have to discover the specific underlying causes.
People drawn to opiates and other painkillers may genetically produce less endorphins (our natural pain killers) leaving them predisposed to this type of addiction. Or they may have an Arsenic burden which has specifically poisoned their ability to manufacture endorphins. Insomniacs may have a Mercury burden that interferes with the production of sleep neurohormones. Nicotine forms nicotinic acid, which is Niacin, and the person who is deficient in Niacin may find it harder to stop smoking. There are many physical reasons that an addict is “self-medicating” and until the addictive biochemistry is addressed, the cravings will continue despite cognitive awareness of their addictive psychology.
Addictive biochemistry correction may be the solution you are searching for.
Our methods investigate the biochemical factors responsible for addiction, and correct it through diet, supplementation and also by the removal of toxins like heavy metals and other accumulated poisons that may be interfering with the person’s ability to maintain neurochemical balance. Read more about addictive biochemistry correction.
Our counselors have the capacity to provide counsel on matters of addiction, behavioral health concerns, and spiritual matters. Each counselor has their own specialty so as to be able to cover the wide span of issues that face our participants.
Many persons want to come to a resolution of a traumatic past, and need to have specific counseling which is tailored to put such issues into perspective and move forward. Others need to have their own self-sabotaging or destructive behaviors articulated in a way that they can gain the reflection necessary to find new behaviors that serve to foster a more positive growth. And still others need to be counseled on matters of a spiritual nature tailored to meet their religious background.
Counseling is a key component of the process of recovery.
For most, the process of withdrawal comes with heightened emotions, and having persons to empathetically connect with their angst and to assist in the process without judging what comes up is the salve that soothes the process of recovery. Empathetic connection allows the therapist to fully observe and understand where a person is at and allow their sorrow, anger, fears and so on to be acknowledged in a humanistic way rather than labeling or pathologizing them. There is much to be discovered in counseling, leading to unique new recognitions that will lead to an increasingly satisfying life experience. Read more about our addiction counseling.
Being in community with others who have succeeded gives you hope.
Many staff members have experienced similar situations and can relate to the people we treat (residents). They can talk about their own path to recovery with residents who are working toward more holistic lifestyles and natural mental health.
Residents also have opportunities to talk about their own experiences with peers who are working at achieving similar results, in an environment of a collective community. Empathetic support based upon common experience is some of the magic of the center. Read more about our peer support program.
Adjunctive treatments and complementary therapies augment the core treatments that the center provides, helping support the whole person, body, mind and spirit. Adjunctive treatments include: Yoga, Sauna Therapy, Acupuncture, Massage, Ionic Footbaths, Colonic Hydrotherapy, Art Therapy, Neurotoxin Removal, cultural experiences and much more.
