I have always been driven to help and support people through some of the most difficult times in their lives. For the past 24 years, I worked for the local police department and during my tenure, I was part of several chemical dependency groups that assisted the families and the person involved by providing support and educational information for everyone involved. I was also part of starting the first behavioral health mobile crisis team between law enforcement and behavioral health specialties in the area.
Throughout my life, I have seen people over-medicated on chemically made drugs without finding the true root of the issue or underlying mental health issue(s) that has not been addressed correctly. The reason that I became a Care Provider for ATMC is because of their mission and values. ATMC’s mission is to help residents resolve underlying physical and psychological factors that have contributed to the use and/or becoming dependent on psychiatric medications, illegal drugs, and alcohol. This is done through holistic, integrative methodologies, compassion, understanding, and respect for all its residents. Staff members take the time to evaluate each person and create an individual plan for each resident. I believe my compassion for people and being helpful and supportive to the residents, to see their transformation from the start of the program to the end of the program, is the most amazing experience in life.
