Cymbalta and Clonazepam Withdrawal Success

Last Updated on March 8, 2021 by Carol Gillette

I learned at Alternative to Meds Center ways to cope with cravings and the uncomfortable feelings and thoughts that come with being sober.

I came to Alternative to Meds Center with an addiction to prescription drugs, Cymbalta and Clonazepam, as well as alcohol. I drank at all times of the day to escape my thoughts and emotions. At first my drinking was social and seemed innocent enough. When I turned twenty-one I quickly found that being able to legally buy alcohol gave me free reign to drink everyday because I thought it was socially acceptable.

I drank to feel “normal” but as my drinking progressed I did it to avoid becoming sick. In the morning I would have to take a benzodiazepine to wake up and be able to start my day. I wanted to quit but by eleven o’clock I would inevitably have a drink in my hand. I came to Alternative to Meds Center because my relationships were suffering as well as my health and dreams for the future. I couldn’t fathom not being able to live and use the way I wanted. I found that if I continued on my current path I would be alone and live an unhappy life.

Being clean off all medications I found that my inner world was just waiting to show itself in all it’s power. With these uncomfortable feelings my first impulse was to seek ease and comfort like I would do in the past. The ability to think clearly and rationally has allowed me to think about what my life could be like with a strong body mind and spirit.

As I went through the detox process my resolve to learn and grow without mind-altering substances has brought me new hope for a productive and happy future. I look forward now to facing life’s challenges and taking into practice the principles and practices that were taught to me at Alternative to Meds Center. I would also like to thank the staff at Alternative to Meds Center for being supportive through this difficult time in my life. The clients were very helpful as well since we are all here for a common purpose.
