Celexa Side Effects
Celexa side effects range from mild to moderate but can be quite severe and even life-threatening.
As with all antidepressant medication, consumers are often under the impression that because it is prescribed by a licensed medical professional, that the drug is harmless, and that it will provide the desired benefits. However, studies document that side effects of antidepressants are a fact of life. Therefore, a person taking Celexa should alert themselves of any adverse symptoms that may begin to arise that could potentially add to their suffering, instead of improving their condition.
Studies were done as early as the 1980's by the FDA but not released until many years later, which showed that antidepressant drugs showed virtually no significant improvement in depression over placebo. These studies also revealed that more than half of the trials showed more negative results than positive ones for antidepressants that the FDA approved between 1983 and 2008. A negative result would be either no improvement in the Hamilton Depression scale or a presence of side effects. The gains that resulted when giving selected participants placebos were not significantly different than for participants taking the actual drug. Anyone can access these studies and antidepressant clinical trials through the FOIA, but they are hard to find otherwise.
