I came to Alternative to Meds Center on Abilify diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
I have been on Risperidone and Olanzapine / Zyprexa in the past for 4 previous psychotic experiences. I was on Abilify for 2 years. Antipsychotic medication I believe has it’s place in coming down from the manic experience of a psychotic episode but once that is over spending your life on antipsychotics is like living with the volume turned down on all your senses. I wrote a poem about it which is on the Alternative to Meds Center blog called Dear Dr Olanzapine.
The last time I took myself off antipsychotics (Olanzapine) I was back in hospital with a full blown psychotic episode within 9 months.
The moment I came to Alternative to Meds Center I knew I had struck gold. The program, the supplements, the detox and all the staff have been phenomenal. Coming off Abilify wasn’t an easy ride. I had few days of slight mania, and many more days of irritability and withdrawal effects. The program helped me get through these using supplements and detox.
