It was time to make a real life change. ATMC offers everything a person needs to heal.

Before I came to ATMC, alcohol was a part of everything I did. For about 18 months I drank all day every day. I did it to numb pain and it felt good to be intoxicated. During that time, I went to a couple of other treatment centers, but not with the intention to quit drinking permanently. I didn’t have the motivation I needed, until I almost lost my life. While I was on the golf course, I collapsed from alcohol poisoning, dehydration and seizures. I was hospitalized and intubated for 3 days. You never think it’s going to happen to you.

They have the environment, the setting, the tools and the support. They offer good structure, but it’s not so regimented that you feel like you’re in prison.

One thing I would say to others thinking about coming to ATMC, you have to champion the change yourself! Even as good as ATMC is, it’s up to the resident to work the program and make the changes that will last.
