Paxil Side Effects

Paxil Side Effects

Alternative to Meds Center has uncovered Paxil side effects help methods which alleviate side effects and greatly ease withdrawal.

Those who suffer from bothersome Paxil side effects can face even more troubling side effects from discontinuing the drug and going through Paxil withdrawal symptoms. We are certain that there are better answers than living the rest of life medicated on antidepressant drugs. Are you wishing that you could see yourself, or the person you love start living in ways you know are within reach?

Paxil, the brand name for paroxetine, is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), and like other antidepressants of its class; it has been studied to determine the prevalence of Paxil side effects. In research studies, Paxil long term side effects which occur in one group of people taking this antidepressant are compared to the same effects which occur in other people who are not taking the medication. This results in being able to see which side effects occur and how often they appear. In such studies, it was found that the one of the most common Paxil side effects in men (which can occur in up to 28% of those who take it) is problems with ejaculation.

Other common Paxil or Paxil CR side effects include: nausea which occurs in up to 26% of users of this drug, insomnia in up to 24%, drowsiness in up to 24%, weakness in up to 22%, dry mouth in up to 18%, headaches in up to 18%, constipation in up to 16%, decreased libido (sex drive) in up to 15%, increased sweating in up to 14%, dizziness in up to 14%, diarrhea in up to 12%, and shakiness occurs in up to 11% of people who use this drug. The following common side effects have been reported to occur in 5% to 9% of users: loss of appetite, impotence (erectile dysfunction (ED), nervousness, infections, indigestion, painful menstrual cramping, yawning, agitation, and anxiety.

Paxil weight gain is another frequently reported antidepressant side effect of taking Paroxetine. Some side effects are uncomfortable but not necessarily harmful to one’s health, such as dry mouth or dizziness. However, there are other effects that may be serious and possibly harmful to the person’s health. Such effects should be immediately reported to a healthcare provider, serious side effects include but are not limited to: Paxil and alcohol related problems, suicidal thoughts or attempts, panic attacks, aggressiveness, hostility, engaging in dangerous activities, extreme mood swings (extreme elation which may switch back and forth with an extremely depressed mood), and any other unusual behavioral changes. Paxil long term side effects can include developing a tolerance to the medication, physical dependence, and Paxil withdrawal symptoms if the medication is stopped.

Serotonin syndrome is a rare but dangerous side effect problem associated with some antidepressants including Paroxetine. Signs of serotonin syndrome include: rapid heart rate, irregular heart rhythm, changes in blood pressure, feelings of internal jitteriness or restlessness, confusion, mental changes, hallucinations, fever, sweating, shivering, coma, seizures, agitation, difficulty sleeping, agitation, nausea, diarrhea, or vomiting, and overactive reflexes. Other rare side effects which were reported in 2% to 5% of Paroxetine users include but are not limited to: abnormal dreams, gas, increased appetite, heartburn, memory loss or amnesia, taste changes, chest pain, back pain, sore throat, bladder problems, flushing, muscle spasms, and Paxil side effects personality change. Having an allergic reaction to this drug is another potential side effect, signs of an allergic reaction may include: unexplained swelling, unexplained rash, difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, wheezing, hives, and itching.

Any bothersome side effects should be reported to a healthcare provider, whether they are considered serious or not, Paxil side effects help may be necessary. Many patients claim that they were misinformed or not properly informed of the potential side effects and dangers of this antidepressant. It is important to be aware of these potential side effects in order to recognize them if they appear. In some cases, the unwanted side effects may be so intolerable that any therapeutic benefits are not apparent, leading many people to want to discontinue use of the medication. If these side effects are intrusive upon one’s life, they may want to consider seeking Paxil or Paxil CR side effects help.

There has usually been no investigative efforts put forth to find why a person may have depression before they are given antidepressants like Paroxetine or other Paxil alternatives. Are people who feel depressed just suffering from a Serotonin deficiency and there are no other contributing reasons? What about a build-up of environmental neurotoxins, for example: heavy metal toxins that interrupt energy metabolism? What if their thyroid is low? What about food allergies in which internal swelling causes a slow metabolism? Any of these things can be a factor that is helping to cause depression. Or if the person has a diet that is lacking nutrients, their brain may not have what it needs to create healthy functioning.

Alternative to Meds Center finds medical reasons that may be causing a person’s depression. To do so, our program uses lab testing, and also includes cessation from neurotoxins accumulated in the environment, natural substances that will stabilize neurochemistry, medication withdrawal methods, IV amino therapies, nutritional therapy, personal training, massage, peer support, yoga and other therapies targeted to fight depression and provide successful help to eliminate side effects.
