Adjunctive Treatments

Adjunctive treatments are offered and designed to support the processes of natural health. Each person, in coordination with the care team, designs the treatments that they are most attracted to and will provide the most benefit to complement the main program offerings.

At Alternative to Meds Center, we know that the process of recovery can be a challenging path. Adjunctive therapies not only allow for some levity during this process, but are designed to work on a deeper level to supplement healing. Beyond what most consider as spa treatments, these therapies have the effect of deep lymphatic cleansing, mental and physical stability, and are scientifically supported for cellular repair applications.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture practitioners stimulate specific points on the body by inserting thin needles through the skin in an effort to restore balance to the energy and functions of the body.

Residents at Alternative to Meds Center receive acupuncture in a group setting twice weekly, and on an individual basis if needed.  Acupuncture has shown to be beneficial for many things including the treatment of anxiety, pain, insomnia, addiction, and depression.

Colonics and Basti Enemas

There is substantial research regarding intestinal health, microbiome, and its importance to mental health.

Bacteria and other microorganisms, such as candida, send out signals, neurotransmitter analogs, that can affect the way we feel and the foods that we crave. By making this a focal point, we help ensure an ongoing and supportive relationship with good bacteria designed to help mentally and physically.

Ionic Foot Baths

For more than 5000 years, Ayurvedic medicine has been using the principles of ionic sea salt baths for toxin removal.

And now, there is evidence to support that high saline-dense water, combined with a low electrical charge, can draw ionically-charged impurities out of the body by means of attraction, much like a magnet. Using the largest pores in the body, found in the feet, an ionic foot bath can capitalize on this technique.

NAD+ IV Therapy

NAD+, the master metabolizer, is a powerful molecule found in every single cell of the body.

NAD+, the master metabolizer, is a powerful molecule found in every single cell of the body. Its job is to assist in biochemical reactions and supply the mitochondria with energy it needs to maintain good sleep, stabilize mood, and ensure our immune systems work properly. This makes NAD+ not only necessary, but incredibly important. When the body has all the necessary ingredients for energy production, our cells are well nourished and we feel good! When we don’t have them, we feel weak and sick.

Nebulized Glutathione

Glutathione, our master antioxidant, is a naturally occurring substance synthesized in the body.

Unlike vitamin C, it is fat-soluble allowing it to work inside of the cell and assists with DNA repair. Glutathione has the capacity to neutralize poisons in a way like no other antioxidant can. In fact, it makes other antioxidants including vitamins C and E, alpha lipoic Acid, and CoQ10 more effective. The process takes place by breathing in a nebulized mist, capable of raising intracellular levels of Glutathione, typically a result of intravenous delivery, without needles making it much less invasive.

Qigong

Qigong means the focal point of power.

By moving this energy consciously with orchestrated, physical movements and breathing techniques, it allows us to be more present in the moment and comfortable within the body and, ultimately, in the mind. Often referred to as a meditative martial art, Qigong provides a positive way to help find one’s personal spiritual center with the ability to explore within that valued place.

Yoga

For many people dependent on psychiatric or pain medications, and those using drugs or alcohol recreationally, the damage done hampers the ability to enjoy their bodies fully.

Building up core strength, flowing with our breath, and safely challenging ourselves is a way to gradually awaken this enjoyment from within. We find that what is good for the body is noticeably good for the mind. People who exercise, stretch, or practice mindfulness, tend to experience healthier mental states.
